Test-tube burger coming soon: Lab-grown meat 'needed to feed the world' | Mail Online
The first ‘test-tube’ hamburger is only a year away, scientists claim.
They believe the product, beef mince grown from stem cells, could pave the way for eating meat without animals being slaughtered.
The Dutch scientists predict that over the next few decades the world’s population will increase so quickly that there will not be enough livestock to feed everyone.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Genetic Modification Gone Wild: 10 Signs That Our World May Be Destined To Resemble A Really Bad Science Fiction Movie
Did you know that today scientists are actually producing mice that tweet like birds, cats that glow in the dark, "monster salmon", "spider goats", cow/human hybrids, pig/human hybrids and even mouse/human hybrids? The very definition of life on earth is changing right before our eyes. Many scientists believe that genetic modification holds the key to feeding the entire planet and healing all of our diseases, but others are warning that genetic modification could literally transform our environment into a desolate wasteland and cause our world to resemble a really bad science fiction movie. For decades, scientists around the globe have been fooling around with DNA and have been transplanting genes from one species to another. But now technology has advanced so dramatically that just about the only thing limiting scientists are their imaginations.

The best deceptions are the ones that seem to give the other person a choice: Your victims feel they are in control, but are actually your puppets. Give people options that come out in your favor whichever one they choose. Force them to make choices between the lesser of two evils, both of which serve your purpose. Put them on the horns of a dilemma: They are gored wherever they turn.Team Chicken 4 life....

"They Did This To Me" | Common Dreams
Horrific tales from a North Carolina task force hearing from the victims of a decades-long eugenics law that oversaw the forced sterilization of over 7,000, mostly poor and black men, women and children, sometimes merely because neighbors gossiped about them. The state has apologized but has not yet compensated - though, truly, what can that mean? - any victims.

Michelle Obama's Africa Trip: Why It Matters
I didn't have to be in the room or even in the country -- which I am not right now -- to have anticipated the rousing reception for Michelle Obama when she visited with young women and girls in South Africa's black township of Soweto. Reading the White House pool reports, as even most reporters who are there must do, reminds me that I have been there, done that. While I don't have anything like the stature of America's first lady, I am up close and personal with the profile of the kind of woman those young girls and women in Soweto listen to with intense interest and appreciation.

World’s Five Major Economies (BRICS) Dumped the US Dollar
Hamsayeh.Net - BRICS countries have finally decided to dump US dollar in their trades and instead issue credit lines in local currencies after a meeting in Beijing - China, this week.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Walmart Case: Supreme Court Aids The Powerful

Avogadro's # (Briarpatch) | Melaphyre Etheoryall
In the music context, Melaphyre is able to combine a collection of abstract yet soulful songs set to the base of eclectic and melodic tracks of melodies and beats into a polished album.
Briarpatch sets the mood and setting for the album with subjects ranging from self identification in Identifying to inner city conspiracy tales in the Establishment. Briarpatch takes the listener on a first person empowering journey through the struggles of life in a capitalistic and oft times prejudiced based society.
With minimalist beats by Etheoryall, the album feels like the Pan African audio stylings of a Stanley Kubrik film with a fast paced and well developed style.
Featured on this album include Boog Brown from Mellow Music Group, Mister Nick of Skipp Coon & Mister Nick, Flux of Binkis, G.R.E.A.T. Scott, and Survivalist.
Melaphyre, the quintessential wordsmith, brings the colorful lyrics and wit that we have become accustomed to from his previous albums including L.O.T.U.S., Ugliness, & Dan Freeman's Story.
Avogadro's #1 The Briarpatch will have the listener thirsting for Part 2 of the series Avogadro's #2 (The Preserve).

College Football Player Kicked Off Plane for Wearing Sagging Pants
by Ayvaunn Penn, Your Black World
A song was made about it. You can’t board a bus if you have it, and now you can’t fly with it. “It” would be sagging pants. Deshon Marman was at San Fransico International Airport on Thursday boarding a plane headed for Albuquerque when he was addressed by a U.S. Airways employee about his sagging pants. The employee asked the twenty-year-old to pull up his pants, but he refused according to Sgt. Michael Rodriguez — an officer for the San Francisco Police Department. Marman was then asked to get off of the plane. This, he also refused to do, and he was arrested as a result.

Nat Turner - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nathaniel "Nat" Turner (October 2, 1800 – November 11, 1831) was an American slave who led a slave rebellion in Virginia on August 21, 1831 that resulted in 56 white deaths and over 55 black deaths,[2] the largest number of fatalities to occur in one uprising prior to the American Civil War in the southern United States. He gathered supporters in Southampton County, Virginia. Turner was convicted, sentenced to death, and executed. In the aftermath, the state executed 56 blacks accused of being part of Turner's slave rebellion. Two hundred blacks were also beaten and killed by white militias and mobs reacting with violence. Across Virginia and other southern states, state legislators passed new laws prohibiting education of slaves and free blacks, restricting rights of assembly and other civil rights for free blacks, and requiring white ministers to be present at black worship services.
