Muslim hip-hop artist, Connie Muhammad ( also known as Nutmeg) is what some would consider to be now unsigned hype out of the radar of the mammoth corporate web of influence and control. However, is gaining momentum ever since her project "Shahadah" was featured in The Final Call newspaper ("A Musical Transformation" July 2008). Connie is not only a noteworthy lyricist in her own right , but also a producer , composer, and vocalist with a seasoned skill set.
Her debut CD "Ghettos Child" is still sought after and is sold online even to this date. The gangster rap era proved to be unhealthy and downright career suicide for many artists of the 90's. By Connie converting to Islam, she not only has worked towards bringing light to a new genre of muslim artists in hip-hop , but also has lengthened her own life as a hip-hop artist "I had to take my Shahadah and show what I was feeling which is a emotional, soft showing of my love for God (Allah) and what he has pulled me thru when alot of people let me down. On CC (Vol2) I plan to bring out the harder side of my repertoire to blast the enemy of self, people, and community." says Connie in regards to the upcoming project.
Look out for her new CD, to be released Feb 24th, 2011 "CULTURE CREATOR (vol2)" featuring some of the Nations of Islams' best indie hip-hop artists, Gat Turner, The Original Man, Marvaluzz Thug, Islam Emcee and more!!! Nutmeg is producing the entire project thru her production co. Marble Bust Prod. and distributing thru her independent label, Sacrifice Life Records.
